What a programme includes

From referral to a patient stable on therapy.

Enrolment and consent

A programme nurse calls the patient the day the referral arrives and records consent.

The Tumaini patient platform

We check Social Health Authority (SHA), insurer and employer cover and apply any support the sponsor offers.

Approval, usually the same day, and supply through partner pharmacies.

Nurse follow-up

A named nurse for each patient throughout therapy, with counselling for the family.

Safety reporting

Adverse events reported to the sponsor and the Pharmacy and Poisons Board within regulatory timelines.

Regulatory affairs

Reporting to the sponsor

Monthly de-identified reports. No report names a patient.

Questions sponsors ask

Before the first call.

What is a patient support programme?

A service a pharmaceutical sponsor funds so that patients prescribed its medicine can start it and stay on it. How patient support programmes work in Kenya explains more.

How does a patient join?

Through the treating doctor, who prescribes the medicine and refers the patient. Patients cannot enrol themselves.

Who pays for the medicine?

The patient’s own cover pays first (SHA, an insurer or an employer), then any support the sponsor offers. The programme’s services are free to the patient.

Who is the sponsor of your current programmes?

A global pharmaceutical company. We do not name sponsors; references are available on request.

How are patients’ data protected?

InsightsIQ Solutions Ltd is the data controller and patients give explicit consent; their rights are set out on the page for patients.

Can you run a programme outside Kenya?

Our programmes run in Kenya today; elsewhere in East Africa we would work with local partners.

Are you a patient or caregiver in one of our programmes?

This page is written for sponsors. There is a separate page for you.
