Why we publish our numbers

Why InsightsIQ leads its website with figures from its oncology patient support programmes, where those numbers come from, and how they are rounded.

5 September 2026 · InsightsIQ

Most consultancy websites say the firm is trusted and experienced. Ours says that more than 1,500 patients have enrolled in our programmes, and that the median time from prescription to first dose is four days.

A sponsor deciding who should run the patient side of a specialty medicine needs evidence to go on.

Where the numbers come from

From our own programme records, across three programmes. Each patient is counted once, the current partial month is left out, and no name, phone number or address leaves the records.

How they are rounded

In one direction only: down to a round number, never up, with a plus on a rounded total. “1,500+” is easier to remember than the exact count, and because the rounding went down it is still true. Rounded the other way, a figure would claim patients we do not have.

What we do not publish

Retention and persistence: how many patients stay in the programme and on therapy over time. In cancer care a patient who leaves a programme has often seen their cancer progress or has died, so a bare percentage would say something about adherence that the data does not support.

Nor do we publish figures that describe a sponsor’s business rather than our work, such as patient numbers by month.

The market pulse

We also publish our own estimate of the Kenyan pharmaceutical market: about USD 1.4 billion a year at retail value. Third-party estimates at import prices are lower; the difference is the valuation basis, not the market. The estimate and its sources are on the market pulse page.

Figures in this article come from InsightsIQ programme records or from sources named in the text. They are rounded and may be revised.
